Mortgage complaints to FOS dwindle
Mortgage complaints to the Financial Ombudsman Service are likely to decrease in 2010/2011, after figures show it has only received 1,721 complaints in Q1.
The FOS received a total of 7,452 mortgage complaints in 2009/2010. If the number of mortgage complaints were to continue at its current pace it would result in around 6,844.
The FOS has also seen a slight decrease in the number of complaints being upheld in favour of the consumer.
In Q1 of the year 33% of the of complaints were upheld, compared to 37% in 2009/2010.
Mortgage complaints made up 4.5% of all complaints to FOS in Q1.
Payment protection insurance topped the complaints table with 34% of all complaints.
The FOS received 13,520 complaints relating to PPI in Q1.
