Did you have a great Christmas and a good break? Did your friends, family and neighbours all get along or are you glad that it’s all over?

I hope if you were lucky enough to receive gifts, they were ones you had been longing for or, indeed, something that had a great deal of thought put into it.

It feels great that no matter what you receive, someone thought enough about what you may like to put time and effort into trying to get it right.

My children will now be in the midst of writing endless thank-you letters. Yes, they could text or email but there’s nothing better than receiving a letter, written to you personally.

I’m amazed how many people I speak to still love getting a letter that is personal to them. That’s so easy to achieve if you have a good IT system.
Using IT can make every customer contact a personal service, so they feel valued and taken care of.

Your IT system should be able to group similar clients together, making financial market updates and general keep-in-touch letters simple to produce, just at the touch of a button.

Moreover, regular contact with your clients is essential. If you can set ’diary tasks’ within your IT system with regular contact dates for communication with your client, it gives consistency of contact with customers that will continue to cement your relationship with them.

I wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2011.
