Optima Legal makes three new appointments

Optima Legal has appointed three new members to its senior litigation team.

The firm has appointed Lesley Wilkinson as associate solicitor within the dispute resolution team.  Lesley spent 14 years at HBOS as litigation manager, dealing with professional negligence and banking litigation, and three years in the Bank’s Group Risk department advising on regulatory change.

Neil Smith joins Optima Legal as associate solicitor and brings over 13 years litigation experience, including roles with Linklaters, Travers Smith Braithwaite and Denton Wilde Sapte.

Neil also spent four years as national head of intellectual property and commercial law for the BBP Law School and lecturer on commercial litigation. Neil has experience of a wide range of general commercial matters including Commercial Agents Regulations, breach of contract and breach of trust claims.

Also joining the dispute resolution department as an associate solicitor is Melanie Dickinson, who joins from Walker Morris to head up the Contested Debt team. Melanie brings with her over seven years commercial and financial litigation experience, together with significant experience of advising on Consumer Credit Regulatory and Compliance issues.

Philip Robinson, lead litigation partner at Optima Legal, says: “Lesley, Neil and Mel all bring extensive litigation and dispute resolution experience to our team at a time when we are seeing a marked increase in litigation instructions from our lender client base.”
