Awards ceremony was upbeat andworthwhile

This year’s Mortgage Strategy Awards ceremony was the best I have attended for years.

In the past two years professionals have avoided many industry events owing to the sombre atmosphere and prevailing negative vibes.

But this year’s event was upbeat and full of optimism. Nobody is saying we are out of recession - if only that was the case - but the feeling now is a million miles from the gloom of this time last year.

Early indications are that activity is up, lending criteria and LTVs are rising and there’s a sense of opportunity in the air.

It was the first time we had hosted a table at the event and we found the return on investment worthwhile - our business partners readily accepted their invitations.

Our guests told us they valued being able to attend the ceremony and benefited from catching up with old friends and making new ones

The feedback from our guests was that they valued being able to attend, and benefited from catching up with old friends and making new ones.

In times of hardship, brokers will remember those who stood by them, supported them, carried on lending and allowed the intermediary sector to develop and grow.

We have found our association with Mortgage Strategy to be positive, and the awards event was certainly a highlight.
