New NLA chapter for Scottish landlords
The hope is that the combined trade body will mean a unified voice for landlords and a greater influence on public policy.
The SoSPLA has represented local Scottish landlords for 15 years and was the first association in Scotland for private residential landlords.
Jim Parker, chairman of the NLA Scotland, says: “As a result of this merger we can provide a louder voice for landlords in the area, helping to raise the profile of the private-rented sector and the contribution it makes to the housing mix.
“Crucially, we will be looking to work ever more closely with local authorities in the region in order to ensure a fair balance between the needs of tenants and landlords.”
Jim Sharpe, founder member of the SoSPLA, says: “Not only does this mean increased benefits for our members but also a greater ability to influence public policy.
“We will be working hard to guarantee a healthy and growing sector while helping to avoid over-burdensome regulation for landlords.”
He adds: “It is the beginning of a new chapter for landlords in Southern Scotland.”
