Metro Bank will open two London branches in July

Metro Bank, the first UK high street lender to launch since the 19th century, will open for business on July 29.

Metro Bank will be starting with two branches in London, the first at One Southampton Row, Holborn and the second in Cromwell Road, Earls Court a week later. A further 12 outlets are planned in Greater London in the next two years as part of a 200-plus branch plan. Metro Bank has yet to release details of the financial products it will offer.

Anthony Thomson, co-founder and chairman of Metro Bank, says: “We have been preparing for this day for a long time and are delighted it’s finally around the corner. “We plan to offer customers a great retail experience and want to make banking fun for everyone.”

Metro Bank branches will be open seven days a week. It will also offer online banking.
