Stonehaven founder joins Aldermore as non-executive director
Jayne Almond, the founder of equity release lender Stonehaven, has joined Aldermore as a non-executive director.
Almond has wide experience in the banking industry having occupied senior managerial roles at both Lloyds TSB and Barclays before setting up Stonehaven. As well as continuing to work at Stonehaven she also currently serves on the Competition Commission and is due to become an external member of the Council of Oxford University.
Phillip Monks, CEO of Aldermore, says: “We wanted a non-executive that had excellent retail banking skills – with Almond we are incredibly lucky to get that combined with a track record as a successful entrepreneur. In banking that is very rare.
“We are still very much in expansion mode, so her experience of operating in a high growth environment is going to be very valuable.”
Almond joins Aldermore’s other independent non-executive directors which include chairman Sir David Arculus and John Callender, a former chief executive of Barclays Mercantile and Barclays Asset and Sales Financing.
