Newcastle sees a profit of £100,000 before tax

Newcastle Building Society has moved back into the black with a pre-tax profit of £100,000 for 2009 after posting pre-tax losses of £35.7m for 2008. After tax the society’s profit falls to zero, meaning it has broken even for the past year’s trading.
