MoJ pulls the plug on Cartel Client Review
The Ministry of Justice has sounded the death knell for claims management firm Cartel Client Review.
The MoJ revealed at the beginning of March that it was investigating the claims firm. Now the business has been suspended.
It says it is monitoring the situation and considering the next steps that may be appropriate.
The MoJ says it will not be able to intervene for any clients who are waiting for a refund from the firm.
A spokesman for the MoJ says: “If you are a customer of Cartel Client Review your agreement with it is a private contractual matter between yourself and the firm in which we cannot intervene. It is not a matter for which we can take responsibility.”
Clients of Cartel Client Review were dealt a further blow when the Solicitors Regulation Authority closed Consumer Credit Litigation Solicitors, the solicitors’ firm that worked on behalf of Cartel.
But the MoJ says its suspension applies specifically to Cartel Client Review and not to Carl Wright, chief executive officer of the firm, which means he can apply to set up another claims management firm if he wants to.
Wright has a long history in the financial services industry. He launched Cartel Credit Review after closing down his mortgage brokerage Cartel Marketing in September 2007.
A statement issued by Wright says: “We notified the MoJ that Cartel Client Review had voluntarily ceased taking new business on March 10 2010. As a result of this and following further discussions it was appropriate for the MoJ to suspend the firm’s authorisation.”

If Cartel have ceased taking on new buisness does this mean they won't be having the stand they were due to have at the Ideal Home Exibition at Olympia this month???
