Margaret Cole to depart FSA this year

Margaret Cole, managing director of the Financial Services Authority’s conduct business unit, is to leave the regulator later this year, after nearly seven years.

Cole joined the FSA as director of enforcement in July 2005 and led the FSA’s drive against crime, which in 2011 saw 11 convictions for insider dealing with 16 awaiting trial and fines levied totalling £66m.

She was appointed managing director of enforcement and financial crime in September 2010 and in April 2011 became the first managing director of the conduct business unit, which will become the Financial Conduct Authority.

She will remain in her role and on the board until the end of March, before going on gardening leave until August 31.
