ING Direct grows distribution by joining Openwork
ING Direct has expanded its reach into the intermediary market by joining Openwork’s lender panel.
Legal & General Network is the only other network to offer ING Direct’s mortgage products after piloting them in April 2010.
The move will give Openwork’s advisers access to ING Direct’s fixed and variable mortgages, including a number of fee-free products.
Paul Shearman, mortgage and protection proposition director at Openwork, says: “ING Direct has been selective about its partners in the intermediary arena so we are pleased it has decided to join our lender panel.”
Julian Hartley, mortgage director at ING Direct, says: “We recognise the number of broker products has reduced in recent years and the channel remains an important one for consumers who seek advice.”
Rob Roberts, head of mortgage services at Lift-Financial, says he would like to see ING Direct widen its distribution further.
He adds: “ING Direct has good products, its criteria is stringent and it focusses on low LTVs. I have clients who wanted to use it but I could not access its deals.”
