David Geale will head mortgage team at the FSA

The Financial Services Authority has appointed David Geale as sector leader for mortgages, taking over mortgage oversight responsibilities from Lesley Titcomb after her appointment as acting chief operating officer.

Geale was formerly manager of the FSA’s retail intermediaries and mortgage sector team, and will head up the Mortgage Market Review.

Titcomb, formerly director of small firms and contact division, will head the MMR alongside Geale until the end of the month, as part of the transition.

The moves come after Mark Norris, former COO at the regulator, decided to leave the organisation.

Jon Pain, head of supervision at the FSA, also revealed last week that he will quit in January 2011.

FSA chief executive Hector Sants says: “With the news that the FSA will be split in 2012 Pain decided there would not be a suitable role for him in the new structure.”
