Clawbacks have Network Data ex-ARs in uproar

Former appointed representatives of Network Data are protesting after being given 30 days to pay back clawbacks for cancelled polices.

Protection firm LifeQuote has written to former ARs of defunct Network Data asking for clawbacks for cancelled polices, some dating back to 2009. The ARs, some of whom claim they never received the original commission from Network Data, have been airing their concerns on the online Botleys Forum.

One AR says: “Surely the Network Data agreement with LifeQuote is now null and void. You can’t pay something back you did not receive in the first place.”

In 2009, Phoenix Group bought the agencies of Network Data ARs from administrator Baker Tilly.

Phil Jeynes, national accounts manager at LifeQuote, says it has tried to recoup the monies from the administrator, but was unsuccessful.

He says: “As with ARs of any network, if we cannot recoup it from the network we go to the ARs. We recognise that some of them will be out of pocket just like ourselves.”

Jeynes says the firm will look at cases individually and if any ARs did not receive the commission from Network Data it will take this into consideration.
