CAB searches for debt plan partner

Citizens Advice Bureau has launched a tender for a debt management plan supplier.

The advice charity says it is looking to establish a partnership with a service provider it can confidently recommend to its clients seeking assistance with debt problems.

It is inviting debt advice organisations that can meet certain specified quality standards to apply to work with it.

The partnership will initially take the form of a year-long pilot scheme across up to 100 of the charity’s 394 offices in England and Wales, starting in October.

Teresa Perchard, director of policy at CAB, says: “Last year we helped clients with 2.4 million debt questions, making this our biggest area of advice provision at 34% of all enquiries.

“Establishing a partnership with a trusted and experienced supplier of debt management plans will give our customers the opportunity to access assistance from a reliable organisation that has been carefully selected.”
