Broker loses out as lead he bought is passed to L&C
A broker has raised concerns about the tie-up between Moneysuper-market.com and London & Country after a lead he purchased was directed to an L&C adviser.
L&C picks up surplus calls to the comparison website following a deal in January. At the time Moneysu-permarket subsidiary Paaleads.com said the leads it sold to brokers would be unaffected.
But Peter Burke, director at Easyswitch Mortgages, lost out to L&C after he left a message for a client whose lead he had bought from Paaleads. The client, who had left his details on Moneysupermarket, called the website direct and ended up speaking to an L&C adviser.
Paaleads has since refunded the fee and apologised.
Dean Jones, head of Paaleads, says: “There are three routes for consumers - local advice, the comparison section and the telephone advice service. Brokers should not think all leads go through to L&C.”
