A third of Straw Poll voters so far have spent conviction
The results for Mortgage Strategy’s Straw Poll this week so far show 35% of those that have voted have a spent conviction.
Last week’s issue of Mortgage Strategy reported how the application form to perform controlled functions under the approved persons regime requires brokers to declare all spent convictions such as fines, cautions or warnings.
A conviction becomes spent when the sentence has been served and a specified period of time has passed.
The Association of Mortgage Intermediaries may challenge the Financial Services Authority on human rights grounds because of the need to disclose spent convictions.
