House sales up for the first time since July
Sales activity rose sharply in October following three month of declining sales numbers, according to for sale board company Agency Express.
The latest Agency Express Property Activity Index, which monitors for sale board and sold board activity, shows that the number of ‘sold’ boards’ in October rose 13.4% from September.
Sales are also up 37.8% compared to October last year.
The South-East saw the biggest montly increase in sales at 39.4%, followed by the East Midlands with a 35% rise, and London with a 24.5% rise.

London and the North-West saw the highest number of sales since February 2008, while Wales and the East Midlands recorded the highest level of sales since April 2008.
Stephen Watson, managing director of Agency Express, says the results are encouraging.
“Every region except the North-East has seen an increase in the number of properties sold in October and with London and the South-East having such a good month we can expect to see the ripple effect of this uplift move into the regions over the coming months.
“The number of sales in October was nearly 80% higher than those achieved in January and the three-month trend is also showing that sales are on the up.”
