House of Commons backs HIPs
Rebecca Atkinson
MPs have voted against annulling Home Information Pack regulations following a robust debate in the House of Commons.
The debate was brought to the House by a Conservative Party motion calling for HIP regulations to be annulled.
However, while 234 ministers voted for the motion to annul HIPs, the majority of 306 voted against it - a win for the government by 72 votes.
This means that the government's proposal to bring HIPs into force on June 1 will go ahead and plans to overturn it at the 11th hour have been foiled.
