The Mortgage Mole

DIGGING THE DIRT IN THE MORTGAGE WORLD…

Pop star pavlos? With the World Cup over one would have thought the furore over mortgage broker Pavlos Joseph - who found himself in hot water over his alleged trespassing in the England dressing room - would die down too. But apparently not.

After all charges were dropped against the broker, presumably because the England squad would rather forget all about their experiences in South Africa as soon as possible, Joseph decided to get himself an agent.

Yes, the man famous for being in the wrong place at the right time has been taken under the wing of former manager of boy band Blue, Daniel Glatman.
Mole wonders if we’ll be treated to a mortgage-themed attempt at Christmas number one.

Murray miss But while Pavlos enjoys his moment in the spotlight Mortgage Strategy’s publisher Anna Ruddock just missed out on her five minutes of fame last week.

Ruddock had attended the Wimbledon tennis final and on her way out was stopped and interviewed by TV’s James Corden. The comedian told Ruddock she had to answer three questions to win a dance with tennis ace Andy Murray.

Unfortunately it wasn’t to be, as the Strategy boss missed out on the prize by not knowing what Scot Murray eats before a game - pasta and chicken, in case you’re wondering. Her guess of a deep-fried Mars bar was, like Murray’s shot at the title, well and truly out.

Red rob Association of Mortgage Intermediaries director Rob Sinclair was left a little red-faced at a recent industry do - or more specifically, red-headed.

The trade body boss had just returned from holiday where he’d accidentally fallen asleep in the sun, resulting in a red and blistered head.
Mole thinks AMI and the Association of Independent Financial Advisers must be working Sinclair too hard if a quick nap turns into a deep sleep.

Losing the plot At the same industry bash, online editor Natalie Martin had something of a blonde moment.

The superstar hackette had been watching the awards section of the evening with everyone else and felt the need to console one nominee afterwards. She headed up to Dale Jannels, sales and marketing director at All Types of Mortgages, to commiserate with him over the company’s showing in the specialist distribution category.

“I’m so sorry, Dale,” she sympathised. “I really thought you should have won.”

A bemused Jannels politely pointed out that he had, in fact, won.

“I don’t know how I missed it,” a bleary-eyed Martin later told Mole. “I must have switched off for a couple of minutes.”

River run Finally, Mole would like to offer lots of luck to Martin Wade, director of Your Mortgage Decisions, and Dean Vellender, director of Easy Life Alliance. The pair are set to run 100 miles in five days, from the source of the Thames to Henley-on-Thames.

The run begins on July 24. Any money raised by Wade will go to Help for Heroes, while Dean is supporting Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals’ Early Birth Fund.

“Training has been upped and we’re looking forward to it,” Wade told Mole.
