The mortgage mole
DIGGING THE DIRT IN THE MORTGAGE WORLD…

IT ALL ADDS UP It must be tough for a star or actor these days. You’ve got to contend with television firms cutting budgets and advertising getting slashed, so the opportunities to make money must be few and far between.
To make matters worse, firms are using their staff to act in promotional advertisements, as we’ve seen with the risible Halifax ones. And now company owners are getting in on the act.
Unsurprisingly, the man to take this step is multi-billionaire businessman Warren Buffett. To publicise Government Employees Insurance Company, an auto insurance firm he owns, Buffett decided to bring a little star quality to the table, albeit on a budget. He donned a wig and bandana a la Axl Rose to star in an ad alongside employees.
The result? One of the most surreal ads Mole has witnessed yet strangely brilliant. Check it out on YouTube!
BRING ON BRANSON Alistair Darling unveiled what could be his last Budget last week and although the Stamp Duty temporary reform was a step in the right direction, some still feel he must go.
But that doesn’t mean the public are in favour of the Tories’ George Osborne or the Liberal Democrats’ Vince Cable. According to a poll by MSN Money UK, the public would prefer to have Virgin boss Richard Branson as chancellor.
Cable came second in the poll followed by Sir Alan Sugar. Osborne was fourth and Darling tied with Bank of England governor Mervyn King in fifth position.
Mole thinks Branson would make a great chancellor and expects funding for balloon exhibitions in the next Budget.
