The mortgage mole

DIGGING THE DIRT IN THE MORTGAGE WORLD…

Will not Mole was obviously intrigued to read in the Metro newspaper last week about the merger talks between Stroud & Swindon Building Society and Coventry Building Society.

But even more interesting was the picture accompanying the article - a brown-haired woman the newspaper claimed to be Stroud & Swindon’s sales and marketing director Linda Will.

Had the Glaswegian radically changed her hairstyle or are there two Linda Wills at the mutual?

A quick internet search revealed what had happened. The paper had used the first picture that came up on a Google image search but the woman pictured wasn’t Linda Will or even called that.

The photo used was of one Linda Hunt, a university board member from the US who, accompanied by her husband Will, was pictured fund-raising for the school.

Merde! And now a bit of good news about surveyors. They’ve not had the best press lately but Strategy online editor Natalie Martin cheered up the office when she told the heart-warming tale of a recent encounter with one.

Martin is in the process of remortgaging her house and hired a surveyor to value it. Unfortunately, the surveyor accidentally trod in some fox faeces in the garden and marched the unpleasant mess around the house (This is not the heart-warming part - Ed).

Of course, he was mortified and apologised profusely, returning later with a plant to make amends. Fingers crossed the poor chap’s guilt will weigh in Martin’s favour with his valuation.
