Halifax Estate Agency deal adds 130 to adviser market

LSL Property Services has com-pleted its acquisition of Halifax Estate Agency in a deal that involves the transfer of 130 advisers to the broker market.

Lloyds Banking Group agreed to sell its estate agency arm to LSL for £1 in October 2009. The acquisition formally completed on January 15.

The 218 Halifax Estate Agency branches will become part of the LSL group alongside e.surv, Your Move, Reeds Rains and Intercounty.

For three months Abbey for Intermediaries has provided support and training to the 130 advisers transferring from Halifax Estate Agency to the broker market.

Training has included adviser development sessions, conferences and induction courses.

Jane Benjamin, national key accounts manager at AfI, says: “This acquisition represents one of the largest injections of personnel into the broker market since the downturn started.”

AfI will continue to provide support to LSL.

Jon Round, relationship director at LSL, says: “AfI’s support has been invaluable and we look forward to continuing to work with it.”
