Habitus placed into administration, reports claim

Marcel Le Gouais

Rumours are rife that Home Information Pack provider Habitus Surveyors has been placed into administration.

Administrators will assume responsibility for salary payments and the restructuring of Habitus as a going concern, alleges website energy-performance-certificates.org in a blog.

The post claims that some 140 existing staff at the Home Information Pack provider could be hit by the news.

Over the last few weeks, it says, the company has been forced to make more than 70 domestic energy assessors redundant.

The blog claims that an email sent by Brendan Doyle, chief executive officer of Habitus, reveals the action was necessary because of a failure to raise additional funding to sustain the business any longer.

In the meantime, the website claims, Habitus DEAs are being urged to honour any Energy Performance Certificate work that comes their way.

The blog says that on November 19, Habitus appointed crisis management consultants, Interco Associates, to ward off creditors until the government announced one and two-bedroom HIPs.
