Goldman and BP both pollute but one gets off lightly

As we saw recently, US finance giant Goldman Sachs has been fined $550m for knowingly polluting the world with toxic debt.

BP, a British company, is also to be fined for pollution, and has already paid at least $20bn into a special account to cover losses suffered by Americans for an accident on an oil rig operated by US companies.

The company also faces being banned from drilling for oil for seven years. US lawmakers seem to be cracking down on BP harder than the US firm.
