Friends reunited

Mole has had a busy couple of weeks, what with the Mortgage Market Review being published and the start of the party season, but he’s still found time to moonlight as a private detective.

When online editor Natalie Martin wrote a profile of Santiago Deponeo of LoanOne Intermediaries for Mortgage Strategy’s former sister title Loan Distributor little did she know she could be bringing long-lost family friends together.

Last week Strategy reader Nora Brinkley got in touch to say her mother was evacuated to live with a family called Deponeo during World War II and wants to find out if it was the same family.

Apparently the Deponeo family who took in Nora’s mum ran a fish and chip shop and ice cream parlour in Chester, where Santiago is based. Mole is trying to track him down and promises to keep readers updated.

  • I am a relative of Santiago, The Deponeo's did own an ice cream and fish and chip business. Nora is more than welcome to get in touch with me, I have been following the family's genealogy.
    Kind Regards,
    Francesca.
