Towergate will take British Insurance on to new heights

In January 2008 my business, British Insurance, became part of the Towergate Partnership.

At the time the acquisition raised a few eyebrows as in the past I had been vociferous about the impact consolidations were having on the insurance sector.

Many felt I had sold my business soul to the devil, given that I was an advocate of the continuation of small, independent brokers and an ardent consumer champion who argued that smaller firms can be more impartial and offer better deals.

But two years into my relationship with my adoptive parent I can confirm my early fears about consolidation were unfounded. I now recognise that size can make a big difference when it comes to securing good deals.

I am impressed with Towergate’s executive chairman Peter Cullum - he is an inspiring business leader and a man of integrity.

Secure in the knowledge that my business is in safe hands I am leaving British Insurance to provide similar cover in the US. Nel Mooy, who takes over as managing director, is competent and a lady of calibre.

I wish them both, and everyone involved in the Towergate Partnership, well and am confident they will continue to move the business onwards and upwards.
