The Barclays Premier League has drawn to a close, which means May is the final month of the season for Top of theLeague. It’s been a great season and the quality of entrants for Player and Manager of the Month has been outstanding. WHAT DOES BEING TOP OF THE LEAGUE MEAN TO YOU?
It means a lot because it is recognition for all the hard work I have put in since becoming a mortgage broker seven years ago. I was flattered to even be nominated.
IN YOUR NOMINATION THE JUDGES PRAISED YOU FOR EXPANDING YOUR BUSINESS AND INCREASING TURNOVER. WHAT DO YOU PUT YOUR SUCCESS DOWN TO?
Investing in local and online advertising and focussing on customer service by employing two full-time administration staff, which helps create a huge amount of repeat business.
THE JUDGES ALSO PRAISED YOU FOR SUPPORTING THE LOCAL COMMUNITY. WHAT INSPIRES YOU TO HELP OTHERS IN YOUR SPARE TIME?
Running my own business is time consuming but I wanted to do voluntary work too so I could give something back to my local community. Working as an unpaid finance director for a charity means I can give my expertise to someone who needs it.
HOW HAS 2011 BEEN COMPARED WITH 2010?
Business has definitely improved. I think this is down to a combination of marketing initiatives and the mortgage market picking up.
YOU’RE BASED IN BICESTER IN OXFORDSHIRE. HOW IS THE MARKET IN YOUR LOCAL AREA?
House prices have fallen since the downturn, but not by as much as in some areas, so I count myself lucky.
WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A MORTGAGE BROKER?
I have always wanted to run my own business and being a mortgage broker combines my love of property with my love of dealing with people.
WHAT’S THE BEST PART OF THE JOB?
Dealing with clients, because I meet so many different people on a daily basis and am able to become part of their journey to buy their dream home. I don’t think I will ever get bored of that.
FINALLY, IF YOU COULD BE ANY FOOTBALLER FOR A DAY WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
David Beckham, so I could go shopping with Victoria.
