There's no need to give B2L landlords a capital tax break
The Association of Residential Lettings Agents’ claim that if rental homes are lost from the sector because of changes to Capital Gains Tax it will result in fewer people being able to keep a roof over their heads is nonsense.
When a landlord sells their property someone else will buy it and either live in it or rent it out. Unless the population rises fast we don’t need a constant stream of extra houses.
I know the number of empty properties in my town adds up to many thousands so there’s hardly a shortage.
There should be no CGT exemption for landlords.
