Ex-John Charcol chairman joins Towergate Financial

Former John Charcol chairman Ian Darby has been appointed chief executive at Towergate Financial.

Darby spent sixteen years at brokerage John Charcol becaming the company’s chairman following the Bradford & Bingley buyout in 2004.

Prior to his role as chairman he worked for B&B for five years, including two years as a plc board director responsible for group distribution.

Darby has also held roles as a non-executive director at Sesame and a chairman of Home Funding.

He says: “Towergate is a highly entrepreneurial business that has assembled a high quality management team committed to developing the pre-eminent personal financial services advisory business.

"I am looking forward to working alongside the team to develop a brand that is at the forefront of this industry.”
