Net lending to individuals sees slight rise in June

Net lending to individuals rose by £0.6bn in June but the 12 month growth rate is unchanged after being revised to a 0.8% increase in May, reports the Bank of England.

And the three-month annual growth rate rose by 0.6%, a slight increase on May.

The total net lending secured on property increased by £0.7bn, also slightly below the May increase, but slipped further below the six month average of £1bn.

The Bank’s 12 month growth rate on net lending secured on property was unchanged after being revised to a 0.9% increase inr May while the three month annual rate increased to 0.7%, from 0.5% in May.

There were 47,643 loan approvals for house purchase, lower than the May figure 49,461 and the previous six-month average of 50,036.

Remortgage approvals stood at 24,949, lower than May and the previous six month average of 26,366.

Approvals for other purposes were 24,849 and in line with May but below the previous six-month average of 25,069.

Consumer credit fell by £0.1bn in June, below the previous six-month average of a £0.2bn increase and the May increase of £0.3bn.
