MBE 2012 heading to ExCeL
The Mortgage Business Expo 2012 will be taking place at the ExCeL exhibition and conference centre.
The event has been resident at Olympia 2 in Kensington for the last three years but will be making the move across town next year to ExCeL, which is in the heart of Docklands.
Mortgage Business Expo 2012 will take place on November 14 and 15 and the exhibition area will increase from just over 3,000 square metres in Olympia 2 up to over 4,000 square metres in ExCeL.
The move follows a successful Mortgage Business Expo 2011 which took place last week.
Some 1,991 registered individuals attended the exhibition over the course of the two days, a 2% increase on 2010.
This year’s event included over 90 exhibiting brands and the seminar theatre, with a programme put together by the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries.
James Prosser, show director at the Mortgage Business Expo, says: “After a particularly successful exhibition at Olympia 2 last week we have decided to increase our exhibition area for 2012 and are therefore heading east to ExCeL in London’s Docklands. Following last week’s event we already have a significant number of major brands rebooking therefore we believe that 2012, much like the mortgage market in general, will see a growing market and generate greater interest. In order to accommodate this we need a larger centre and therefore ExCeL has been chosen to deliver this.
“In terms of last week’s event we are delighted with our attendance figures, which have improved on 2010; this is no mean feat in a rather static market. We have been receiving positive feedback from both visitors and, in particular, exhibitors; so much so that we have already processed a number of bookings for 2012 with some major brands looking to go bigger and better.”

And renaming it MBE "Mostly Bridging Exhibitors" too I guess? More space at Excel, come on guys dont take us all for fools, there's hardly a lack of space at the existing home now is there?

There were two problems with expo this year - the layout was poor, hit by the move away from the ground floor which pushed everybody coming in to go left - the result, along with the staircase in the narrowed middle section - appeared to be an expo of two halfs - wouldn't have wanted to be an exhibitor the other end!
The second problem - a continuing issue - is the insufficient space and heat in the seminar room. Yet again the key speach by Sheila Nicol was overcrowded with standing room only and the heat was unbearable. The accoustics also made it hard to hear if you were near the expo side of the room.
Hopefully these will be fixed at Excel
To Marcus I would ay - at least the Bridgers are active lenders and many people are finding more and more use for their services. Meeting them at expo is likely to be many intermediaries best method.
