Interest rates held at 0.5%

Interest rates have been held at the historic low of 0.5% for the 15th consecutive month, the Bank of England has announced.

The Monetary Policy Committee also committed to maintain its £200bn asset purchase programme at 12pm today.

The programme was increased by £25bn in November last year but since then the Committee have maintained levels.
