Long live variety in the financial services sector

From Robert Winfield

Having read Whitechurch Network managing director Ian McIver’s response to my letter (Mortgage Strategy September 14) I am pleased to note that he eventually understood what I was trying to say.

I was merely trying to point out that I didn’t feel that as many professionals were leaving the industry as the research suggested - they were simply joining micro-networks with independent, directly authorised brokerages.

Obviously, as a managing director of one such organisation it is my opinion that this can offer better value than some networks but I recognise there is still a place for all of us.

Variety is the spice of life and as long as choice exists the debate will rage about clubs, networks, DA brokers and so forth.

Clearly, Whitechurch is not a dinosaur network - as Gary Watts, director of Which Network, would say - and I wish McIver the best of luck for the future.
