Coreco goes down apprenticeship route for recruits
London brokerage Coreco is setting up an apprenticeship scheme in June to attract fresh blood to the broker market.
The initiative is being run under the National Apprenticeships Ser-vice with Orpington College, the firm’s local provider of financial services apprenticeship schemes.
Coreco has already received 30 CVs for two apprenticeship places. The recruits will go through a 12 to 18-month programme for advanced CeMAP while working in Coreco’s offices on a living wage.
Matthew Lowndes, managing dir-ector of Coreco, says the initiative has been fuelled by a lack of qual-ified recruits in the market.
He says: “It’s due to the fact that there was no-one joining the market two years ago. As a result there’s no one looking to take that next step.”
Peter Gwilliam, owner of recruit-ment firm Virtus Search, says: “The key to making this a success is joining up the selection process with training and development programmes.”
