SHIP launches feedback forum for equity release
It will also focus on clarifying what customers need from equity release products and look at future safeguards.
The aim of the development forum is to create a key influencer group for equity release, made up of all industry stakeholders - consumers, organisations, and multi-national corporations.
Members of the forum will be given the chance to contribute to the debate on how to shape the equity release market through working groups and research projects.
Forum members will also receive regular information on SHIP's development work.
Andrea Rozario, director-general of SHIP, says: "As a trade body we are faced with a huge challenge to help the industry develop more products which meet consumers’ needs in a safe, holistic and appropriate manner.
“Therefore, feedback from all interested parties is essential and we look forward to working with all members of our development forum and other stakeholders to reach this goal.”
The forum aims to take the equity release debate forward following the launch of SHIP's discussion paper in July.
The discussion paper outlined the issues that the sector needs to tackle in order to drive change, including sources of equity release funding.
Interested parties can join the forum by signing up via a link on the SHIP website.
