Kensington joins mortgage support scheme
The lender joins a host of other lenders already offering the scheme, from both mainstream and specialist sectors, including Royal Bank of Scotland, Lloyds Banking Group, Northern Rock, and GE Money Home Lending.
Bank of Ireland and GMAC-RFC are also thought to be finalising the arrangements to join the scheme too.
As well as the opportunity to defer payments under the government scheme borrowers can reduce their monthly payments and have their deferred payments rolled together and added to the original loan, to be paid at a later date.
Keith Street, head of Kensington, says: "Kensington has supported this scheme since it started and we have been working hard to finalise the systems and process requirements to implement it.
“We are delighted that we are now able to offer the HMSS as yet another option as part of our standard forbearance procedure, providing another choice of concession for customers who are facing difficulty with their payments.”
