Come rain or shine protection is needed

At last the Great British public has been given the opportunity to do what it does best - talk about the weather.
Conversations up and down the country have been dominated by the white stuff. And grown men have relished the opportunity to dust down their sledges and show the children how it’s done.
But as quickly as the ice melts the novelty of having so much snow will fast disappear also.
With the extreme weather conditions forcing many people to take unscheduled days off of work, they will be counting the cost of lost earnings, especially the self-employed.
But what if being away from the workplace wasn’t just a short-term situation caused by the weather.
What if it was a prolonged time off work due to serious illness.
How many people would have the right safeguards in place to ensure that they could still afford to pay the mortgage and the monthly bills?
There will be people who haven’t even thought about protection and others who will bury their heads in the sand and think “it won’t happen to me”.
But if the worst does happen surely it’s better to have plans in place now rather than worrying about what to do when it’s far too late.
Now might be a good time to contact clients and discuss their protection needs.
If you can get them to talk about protection as much as they do about the weather we might be another step closer to closing the protection gap.
