Brokers launch specialist equity release alliance
A band of equity release brokers has launched an alliance to promote specialist advice in the sector.
The Independent Equity Release Adviser Alliance launched yesterday just outside of Bristol, with nine providers and 50 advisers attending.
The IERAA aims to promote the use of experienced advisers, independent of lenders, and encourage select equity release brokers to come on board.
It is unclear as to how the body will fit with Specialist Advisers for Equity Release, an equity release trade body launched for brokers in September.
At the moment it comprises 18 founding members and brokers who want to join will have to demonstrate experience in equity release advice for a number of years and be able to provide references from lenders and providers.
Anthony Harris, chairman of IERAA, says: “Today is just the start.
“The alliance is all about providing access to the best individual advisers that the industry can offer – access for the general public and access for our fellow professionals.
“Together we will be stronger and can maintain the highest of standards through the common aim of offering independent specialist advice.”
