The high-tech road to happier holidays

The summer holiday season is here and many of us are looking forward to a well-earned break, whether in the back garden or further afield.
If you’re a significant player in your business switching off completely is a rarity, which is why many of us go on holiday with a drink in one hand and a BlackBerry in the other.
For many, the reasoning is that it’s easier to keep in touch while you are away rather than trying to catch up on your return. Most psychologists say this is a bad thing because you’re not switching off properly and giving your body and mind complete rest.
But the ideal solution is often impractical - time away from your business is money. If you are self-employed you’re paying not only for the cost of your holiday but also for the fact you’re not earning.
Being out of touch with clients for so long is not an option for many. Of course, if your business uses an online solution for its IT needs, time away need not mean being cut off from your business or clients. With a web browser you can access the same system you use in the office.
I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the number of brokers who use a system like this and now see their holidays differently. They can afford to be away for longer as they can work if they choose, just as if they were still in the office. They can keep control of their business and remain in
ontact with their clients.
And if you can take care of business while taking care of yourself, everyone’s a winner.
