New world isn't as scary as you think

I recently attended the National Association of Commercial Finance Brokers Expo in Birmingham.
The show wasn’t the biggest I have ever been to - there were no juggernaut stands and extravagant splashes of cash - but the place had the right buzz about it.
As each identically-sized stand was set up in the morning there was something approaching a family wartime spirit in the air.
Exhibitors were determined and positive, and had done away with the flash freebies of previous events.
But what surprised me most was the calibre of intermediary coming through the doors.
The commercial and mortgage broking attendees were keenly focussed on finding out about new business avenues to explore and learning how to diversify or adapt their offerings.
Our world has seen huge changes and exhibitors shared their experiences openly with brokers, each helping the other figure out how they could write more business.
There are many opportunities to grow, change and to make money but sometimes you have to step outside your comfort zone, go to events such as this and speak to a variety of industry players.
Although taking the first step towards change is always difficult the opportunities that lie ahead are worth seeking out.
As I always say, the world is never as scary as you imagine when you step outside and take a look around.
