Like England rugby, we need new ideas

As much as I was looking forward to going to the Millennium Stadium recently, the trip home was less enjoyable.

As an avid England rugby supporter, I did my best to try and block my ears to the tremendous rounds of Bread Of Heaven from the Welsh choir who sat a few rows away, not easy in the stadium with the roof closed.

The England rugby team looked like a one-trick pony. It repeated the same moves without making any headway. Time and time again mistakes were made and the ball ended up in the Welsh hands. Why didn’t it try something new?

Fear of new ways of working often mean selling yourself short of real potential.

It’s often a similar experience when I speak to brokers about their customer relationship management systems.

It’s easy to stick to what is familiar and not upset the status quo. But there’s some marvellous CRM technology around nowadays that is light years away from where it all started.

Having the right piece of IT kit to run your business can drive up revenue opportunities as it allows your business to focus on the income-generating activities.

It also allows you to explore new ideas by analysing your client bank and understanding how many could be potential purchasers of your new product.

Your CRM system can do the hard work for you in minutes, freeing up your time to determine the right product, provider and price rather than spending hours collating client segment groups.
